One of the key motivations for our project is the interest and a way of engagement in the currently running event called the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. We think the cultural heritage, be it tangible or intangible, is a unique resource for future social development and an important tool for teaching future generations about tradition and the historical significance. We, as teachers, have a great opportunity to show students how important it is to be proud of their roots and feel attached to their culture.

Key objectives of our project:

  • to raise awareness of the cultural heritage
  • to show our students, colleagues, parents, and the local community how significant role it plays in our lives
  • to encourage our students to identify their cultural heritage and accept the feeling of responsibility for it.
  • to encourage our students to see and accept the cultural diversity which is important for promoting democracy and peace
  • to promote language education, ICT skills and cross curricular skills that are important for school but mainly for students´ future development
  • to use English as a communication tool and different methods of ICT to fulfill project activities that include exploring culture, History, Art, Geography and Tourism, Civics, etc.
  • to strengthen students´ independence
  • to give our students opportunity to raise their self-confidence by cooperating with peers from different countries
  • to show our students the communication in other language as a natural part of every life and motivate them to further studying, travelling, exploring
  • to support our students´responsible approach to information and to develop critical thinking by searching and separating particular information
  • to help new inexperienced teachers with methodology, especially with the method CLIL which combines the English language with the content of the lesson being taught.
  • to raise teachers´ self-confidence to use English during their lessons

All our present project partners are partners that have already cooperated with us on a former project. One of our partners, namely Sicily, has participated with us in two European projects – Comenius and Erasmus +. Therefore we know that they are all experienced, responsible and reliable partners. We would like to compare different cultures and knowledge about UNESCO sites in partner countries. We hope there is going to be high benefit from the cooperation as it was during the last project. Due to long term cooperation among partners we are sure about good cooperation satisfying sharing of roles and responsibility. We would also like to deepen the good relationships and cooperation among headmasters and other teachers from certain schools who know each other for a long time.

Participants/Stakeholders:

The project aims to touch and involve as many people as possible. Different groups that will take part in the project activities are: - pupils at each of the partner schools - alongside with the Erasmus Club, all pupils are going to take part in many of the project activities : such as the logo competition, internet voting, poster competitions, project days, ordinary and sample lessons devoted to project activities etc. - Teachers at each of the partner schools: as many teachers as possible will cooperate and work on the project activities, mainly during sample lessons at own school an even at partner school during exchange of good practise. - Parents of pupils: they are going to be involved as well, they will provide support to their children when implementing the project, they will provide accommodation and pleasant atmosphere for students from partner schools during the short-term exchanges, they will show the local customs and traditions during the common everyday situations - Local community: the local community will be introduced to the project results regularly and local people will also participate in completing questionnaires and they will also have an opportunity to take active part in the Day of Languages and the Garden party. All the groups are going to participate in different ways as already mentioned above. By setting a good example for our pupils to follow, pupils will further disseminate these ideas in their families and among their friends and this way the number increases. The age groups of pupils involved in the project rank from 6 to 15.
